Enlightened Reflections
In 2022, celebrating my sixth decade on this beautiful planet, I was able to mark a few "bucket list items" off the list. The beauty of Paria Canyon in the Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness Area is one I have been wanting to experience for a very long time. Finally, I was able to join a friend on a backpacking trip. It would be an excercise in futillity to try and describe this natural wonder. This image offers a glimpse of the majestic canyon, the stunning colors highlighted by the bounce light reverberating through the canyon, the incredible reflections adding to the already picturesque scenery.
A Cuban's Cuban

Enjoying a break with his cigar, I was taken aback by the sheer strength in this mans eyes, the wrinkles in his face witness to a long, and probably hard, life.
The immaculately clean shirt, the newspaper carefully folded, protecting his pants, all underscoring his proud presence.
A moment I will not soon forget. Trinidad, CubaPast Reflections
Taken during a life performance in Kyoto, Japan this young lady demonstrated her skills, which took years of hard work and dedication to obtain.
Steeped in tradition, even the make-up has a purpose: when geishas first started performing, there was no electricity, so they had to perform by candle light making it hard to see the face.
By using white make-up , the Geisha's face remained more visible during the performances. From Japan Gallery

This particular hike along Horton Creek, Arizona, yielded little fall colors on trees, but made up for it with little scenes such as this.

Mushrooms might be the last thing people would expect to find in Arizona, but during monsoon season, a lot of these beautiful fungi flourish in the most unexpected places.

The Ship and the Seagull
Bronze Award, 2021 EPSON
International Pano Awards.
While on an evening stroll, these fantastic light beams broke through the dense cloud cover, beautifully illuminating the ship on the horizon. If you look carefully to the right of the frame, you will see the silhouette of a seagull , perfectly illuminated by the sun reflecting off of the ocean.A Child of the World
The more I worked on this photo, the deeper it went, the more emotions it evoked.
Maybe because I remember that moment so well: this young boy running out of the woods onto the dirt road we were driving on.
Maybe it is the many stories being told by his face, his handmade helmet, his clothing.
Maybe it is the fear, the hope, the curiosity, the shear innocence that is being run over by the harsh realities of daily life.
It is moments like this that make me so very grateful for the life I have been so lucky to live.
And it is moments like this that remind me I, we all, can do better. We all can do so much more to change this world to be a better place......King of the River

It was a true privilege to be able to see this four day old baby, its mother still tired after giving birth.
