The Grand Canyon is a sight to behold any time of year, but when one is lucky to be there when all the elements come together such as they did on this morning, it turns into an unforgettable experience. The setting moon witness to the rising sun, the explosion of color slowly unfolding over the canyon and the sky, the rare snow framing in the foreground, all that created this perfectly orchestrated symphony that quite literally took my breath away. "Dunes" The largest gypsum dunefield of its kind in the world, White Sands at first glance can be quite disorienting, as dunes stretch in every direction well into the horizon. The white gypsum mislead the senses to appear to be snow, the thought only betrayed by the desert temperatures.To fully appreciate the natural beauty of this location, one has to come to terms with the overwhelming expanse of this place, and be willing to let this scenery slowly unfold, revealing hidden treasures esconded in the gentle curves and patterns of the dunes. A rare treasure indeed.
